EVESHAM and Badsey Hockey Club's men and women both powered to victories.

The men's first team were back after the festive break and beat visitors Abergavenny 5-1 in GoCrea8 League The Marches Division One.

They moved the ball around well early on and Adam Haycock fired across the D with Matt Grumble converting.

Grumble doubled his tally with a smart flick over the stranded keeper.

The visitors applied more pressure but smart passing and moving gave Haycock a chance to open his account to make it 3-0 at half-time.

Evesham and Badsey started the second half quickly and Haycock put the ball into an empty net.

Smart work got the hosts a penalty corner which was converted by Marcus Humpston.

With the last play of the game, the home defence were caught sleeping and the visitors claimed a consolation goal.

The men's A team won 3-2 at Newent B in Division Two.

Sarah Jones scored a hat-trick as Evesham and Badsey women beat Cirencester thirds 3-0 at home in West Clubs Women's League Severn Division Two.

The first game back after the festive break proved to be tough with both sides playing well.

There was some good passing on show but Evesham and Badsey defended well.

Then a long pass allowed Jones to run into the D and score on the rebound after her first shot was saved.

In the second half, Jones added two more goals which sandwiched a fine save from the Evesham and Badsey keeper at the other end.
