EVESHAM’S Chloe Golding just missed out on the 200-metre backstroke final at the Commonwealth Games.
The Vale ace, 20, finished third out of six in her heat on the Gold Coast, Australia, but narrowly fell short of the final.
She swam two minutes 13.05 seconds for ninth fastest overall.
Her City of Manchester club, where Golding is now based, Tweeted: “Massive well done to Chloe just missing out on the 200m back final.
“Great experience racing the best in the world!”
Golding swam a personal best time to claim the 2017 Swim England National Winter Championships' 200m backstroke title and secure a place on the team for the first time at the Games.
The national age group champion previously represented Great Britain at the European Junior Championships while swimming for Ellesmere College Titans in Shropshire.
Golding trained at the swimming clubs in Evesham and Worcester.
