BIDFORD-based Power Maxed Racing is blazing a trail at the top of the British Touring Car Championship on the back of more success for Josh Cook.

Victory in the second of three races, achieved from a ninth-placed position on the grid, briefly put Cook at the head of the overall pack before settling in a point behind series leader Adam Morgan (Mac Tools with Ciceley Motorsport).

Cook’s team-mate Senna Proctor is up to joint-seventh overall having bagged his second rostrum berth of the season in his final outing, continuing his stellar progress.

“To win my first race at Donington Park was enjoyable but to do it from the middle of the pack like that was even better,” said Cook.

“It was the first time I had been round without any weight in the car this weekend. The Astra was on rails at the front and we were really strong through Church, which allowed us to carry good momentum onto the back straight.

“That said, the rear was moving around quite a lot which caused plenty of big sideways moments.

“All credit to the guys – qualifying didn’t quite go our way but we knew we had the pace. When the points are available, we’ll certainly take them.”

Meanwhile, Senna had words of praise for his high-flying colleague while taking a measured stance on his own swift rise through the ranks.

“Saturday brought me my best qualifying position yet and I can’t help but be happy with my consistency throughout the weekend,” he said.

“The boys have put together a fantastic package for this year and our results so far show that.

“Josh was absolutely on fire and between the two of us I think we’ve demonstrated the outright pace the car has.

“It’s always nice to go home with some extra silverware and it’s the first time both of us have been on the podium at the same round. All in all, it was another good weekend.”

Technical director Martin Broadhurst added: “Josh’s second win in as many rounds just goes to show how the hard work the team has consistently put into the car has paid off.

“He fought well to hold his position consistently against the drivers carrying considerably less weight.

“Senna was fast and put together a solid race weekend, culminating in a well-deserved podium in race three.

“Having both drivers on the podium within two races is something that shows both our intent and strength and puts us in a great position.”
