EVESHAM Rowing Club won the prestigious Victor Ludorum after gaining the biggest medal haul at the Ball Cup Regatta.

More than 20 clubs competed in the annual event on the 750-metre multi-lane course at Eton Dorney in Buckinghamshire.

Coaches Jacob Organ, Dave Parkin and Simon Edwards witnessed Evesham clinch eight medals thanks to some excellent performances from their crews.

Quad Emma Parkin, Rachel Egan, Sacha Wilson and Liv Evans coxed by Flo Johnson took bronze, while doubles Emma Parkin and Liv Evans, and Georgie Banton and Poppy Cullen won silver.

Quad Duncan Repton, Sam McClenahan, Tom Hill and Jack Harris coxed by Archie McEwan also finished runners-up.

By winning all their heats, singles Repton and Hill, double Emily Jones and Katie Ham together with quad Martha Robbins, Charlie Ackerman, Banton and Cullen coxed by Katie Ham all took home gold medals.

Meanwhile, a further five Evesham crews battled through their heats to qualify for their finals but did not reach medal positions.

Organ said: “The girls won their Victor Ludorum outright and the boys finished an impressive fourth. I am very proud of our athletes - this was a massive achievement by all involved.”

Evesham are looking for boys between the ages of 11 and 17 to join the club’s junior squad.
