DAVE Smith was late after car problems but won Shipston Angling Club’s Pete Jackson Trophy League third round for over 65s.
The Newbury man caught 10 bream for 29lb 8oz at Aston Magna.
Alan Watkins was second with 24-8 from Pete Kilbride (16-8), Henry Sadler (15-12) and Les Haines (14-6) as 14 fished. Shipston’s match at Bishops Bowl involved 18 anglers on White Bishop’s pool.
Kilbride won with 74-4 from Robert Reynolds (65-0), Chris Hallows (50-0), Andy Simpson (45-1) and Simon Slowther (43-12).
Shipston’s first away match of 2018 was at Boddington Reservoir with Reynolds taking 81-12 of carp.
Gary Didcock was second with 57-15 ahead of Kilbride with 52-8 while the biggest carp was 15-9 caught by Mick Belgrave.
Shipston have a fly fishing tuition day on the River Stour on June 18.
