EVESHAM held Alcester to a 2-2 draw in the South Warwickshire Summer League Premier Division.
The result moved Alcester up to third and knocked Shipston-on-Stour, who lost 4-0 to title favourites Stratford- upon-Avon, down to fourth.
Claverdon, now in second spot, defeated Stratford ‘B’ 4-0.
Alcester’s Stuart Beach and Gareth Price squeezed a victory over Evesham’s Andy Crowther and John Clarke 7-5, 6-7, 1-0 (10-6).
They then lost to Chris Francis and Ray Foster- Morison 7-5, 6-4 and the Evesham pair also saw off Pete Watson and Matt Poole 5-7, 7-5, 1-0 (10-6).
But Watson and Poole claimed the final rubber by the narrowest of margins against Crowther and Clarke 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-6).
Previous nearest challengers Shipston only took seven games off Stratford as William Welch and Tobias Kemp lost 6-1, 6-1 to Simon West and Callum Bailey and 6-2, 6-1 to Tim Page and Cameron Malik.
Meanwhile, James Hudson and James England went down 6-1, 6-0 to West and Bailey and 6-0, 6-1 to Page and Malik.
In Division One, Bidfordon- Avon stay on top with 14 points although their match against Studley had to be postponed due to their courts being repainted.
Chipping Campden went up a place to second, only a point behind, after overcoming Inkberrow 3-1.
Littleton climbed up one place to third after celebrating an excellent 4-0 win over fellow high-fliers Ardencote Manor.
In Division Two, Snitterfield recorded a 4-0 straightsets win over bottom team Littleton ‘B’.
Second-placed Chipping Campden ‘B’ moved to within two points of Studley in Division Three by beating Shipston ‘B’ 3-1.
Division Four saw Inkberrow ‘B’ maintain their sevenpoint lead at the top with 23 points with a 4-0 win over previously unbeaten Snitterfield ‘B’.
Moreton-in-Marsh took advantage of this slip-up to leapfrog Snitterfield into second spot by beating Pershore ‘B’ 4-0.
Near the bottom of the table, Inkberrow ‘C’ and Chipping Campden ‘C’ shared the honours in a 2-2 draw.
Studley ‘C’ are third in Division Five after seeing off Bidford ‘B’ 4-0 and Wildmoor ‘B’ drew 2-2 with Moreton-in- Marsh ‘B’.
