WORCESTER Warriors served up their best attacking rugby of the season in a 10-try romp — but there was a feeling of disappointment at the final whistle.

Winger Tom Biggs snapped up his second hat-trick for Warriors, whose back-line showed their potency in a try-feast at Sixways.

Argentina international Leo Senatore also slotted into the number eight spot and carried the ball well to take the man-of-the-match plaudits.

Ben Howard took his opportunity after being handed a starting role on the wing and, at times, the visitors struggled to cope with his blistering pace.

Centres Max Stelling and Andy Symons exploited gaping holes as Dean Ryan’s men carved open the Pirates’ defence in the opening half as they roared into a 43-7 lead at the break.

Perhaps the disappointment at the finish was Warriors’ sloppy defending and their failure to re-impose their dominance after the interval.

In a breathless second-half spell, which was akin to sevens’ rugby, Pirates replied with two converted tries and even butchered a clear chance in front of the sticks.

The visitors had the final word, too, when Kieran Goss, who had scored two tries, off-loaded to Kieran Hallett to cross for a try bonus point.

Warriors remain second in the table after completing the first-half of their Greene King IPA Championship league fixtures with 10 wins from 11.

Ryan had called for a bright opening after their poor start at Yorkshire Carnegie — and Warriors soared into a 31-0 lead after just 23 minutes.

Symons started the procession in the third minute and Warriors soon had a second try through Stelling, which Ryan Lamb converted.

Howard was at the heart of the action and punished the visitors when he set up Chris Pennell to score after 10 minutes.

Warriors secured their bonus point when Biggs touched down under the posts.

Lamb converted Biggs’ try and applied the extras after Howard finally got his name on the scoresheet after linking up with Pennell.

It was a whirlwind start from Warriors and the hosts were pressing for another score when Pirates, who had hardly threatened, replied with a try.

Lamb’s long pass was intercepted by winger Goss who raced the length of the pitch and Hallett kicked the conversion.

But Warriors finished the half on the front foot with two further tries, one converted by Lamb.

Firstly, lock Darren O’Shea was driven over from a line-out and then Biggs crashed over in corner just before the break.

Pirates threw caution to the wind and hit back with converted tries from Goss and full-back Luke May. The visitors should have grabbed a third try but Darren Barry spilled the ball with the line at his mercy.

Warriors got their first try of the second-half as scrum-half Jonny Arr dived over in the corner and Symons’ conversion was greeted by the loudest cheer of the day.

With replacement fly-half Ryan Mills pulling the strings, Biggs completed his try-treble after cutting inside to the line and Symons converted.

Gus Creevy finished off a driving maul for Warriors’ 10th try before Hallett’s late touchdown for the visitors rounded off a remarkable afternoon’s action.
