WORCESTER Warriors chief Dean Ryan “has no interest” in becoming England’s head coach.

Warriors’ director of rugby was last week mooted among the favourites to replace under-fire Stuart Lancaster in the England role.

Ryan was a 10-1 shot with Ladbrokes, with Northampton Saints chief Jim Mallinder at 5/1 with Paddy Power and Coral.

But Ryan has ruled himself out of the running.

“I have no interest at all (in the England role)," he said.

“In some of the roles I have got in the media I have been asked the questions about England.

“I think there’s some fundamental flaws in how they (RFU) arrive at their decision-making but I have no interest at all.

“I am not even interested in the speculation.

“I signed up here (Worcester Warriors) for a specific challenge and I have no interest in my life or anything else being anywhere close to the rumours.

“I understand the need to ask the question but it’s not going to change the answer.

“I have never really been interested in it because I don’t think you can be successful in it.”

Lancaster is under pressure after England’s failure to reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

England were dumped out of the tournament after losing to Australia and Wales.

Although Lancaster has a contract that runs until 2020, his long-term future appears far from certain.

Ryan said: "It’s just a matter of being turned over every three years. Look at the last 15 years and I think I have been pretty vocal on what the problem is with the role.

“To come to Worcester was a huge change ofdirection for me in life.

"I came here because of how much I think this challenge is and what I think we can do with it and commitment to some of those people who came to me and asked me.

“Because I am back in rugby doesn’t mean I have got another eye.

"I have no interest at all in the England role – so save your money.

“I have no interest if they (RFU) go and solve the problem either.

"Maybe 10 years ago I might have been interested. I just don’t want my life in it and I have got a commitment here at Worcester. I have absolutely no interest in it.”
