PERSHORE under-9s are beginning to see some reward for their efforts after a shaky start to the season.
The age group at the Wyre Piddlebased club has doubled in numbers from last season along with the under- 12s team.
The World Cup and a small group of dedicated volunteers have helped the mini and junior section grow overall.
Pershore under-9s were successful in games at Alcester and Upton but coach Ben Andrews emphasised the focus was not all on winning.
He said: “The most important thing about rugby for this age group is they all enjoy it.
“For that to work, we need some even but competitive games so everyone comes off the field having enjoyed it, no matter what the score.”
After their sponsors day, Pershore under-9s play in a festival at Worcester on Saturday, December 5, with an on-pitch game at half-time during Worcester Warriors’ game with Leicester Tigers.
