Barkers pushed to the limit

RELEGATED Pershore Rugby Club pushed champions Barkers Butts close in a 32-23 Midlands Two West (South) defeat.

In the final league game of a disappointing campaign, Pershore began on the front foot with an AJ Hanson penalty on five minutes opening the scoring before the runaway leaders scored a converted try.

After another Hanson penalty, Pershore regained the lead with Karl Evans driving over and then Dave Hill popped to hooker Ben Humphries, who scored.

Hanson converted.

Andy Jenkinson added a well-taken try but Barkers had the final say in the half with a converted effort.

At 23-14 up, Pershore prop Alex Peel suffered a secondhalf sin-binning and Barkers closed the gap with a try and penalty. The second-frombottom hosts went from almost scoring to shipping a converted try and penalty.
