Pershore on the up, says Grace
3:40pm Saturday 9th June 2012 in Rugby
AFTER a season which included only three wins and relegation to Midlands Three West (South), coach Toby Grace believes Pershore have what it takes to bounce back.
Grace described last season as “not the best” and cites injuries to key players as a major cause of their struggles.
He said: “When our injured players came back towards the end of the season we were muchimproved and in fact beat Berkswell and Balsall who were promoted.”
Pershore will resume their rivalry with neighbours Evesham and look to secure a return to Midlands Two West (South).
The club has a new captain next season with Andy Jenkinson, aged 30, a long-time servant of the club, taking over from Karl Evans.
Jenkinson said: “It came as a shock to be awarded the captaincy, but I am very proud especially as I have been at the club since I was 14 years old.”
Pershore welcome any new players and training is held at the Wyre Piddlebased club every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm, starting on July 3.
They are hosting a touch rugby tournament on Sunday, July 8, from 10am until 4pm. There are taster sessions at the club on Sundays from 10am until noon.
