MOEEN Ali struck a magnificent hundred to lead an England recovery on day one of the fourth Investec Test with Pakistan at the Kia Oval.

The Worcestershire all-rounder brought up his century in glorious fashion with a massive six over deep mid-wicket off spinner Yasir Shah.

He received a standing ovation all around the ground after completing his third ton for his country off 140 balls with two sixes and 12 fours.

The 29-year-old came to the crease at 110-5 on the back of his two half-centuries and man-of-the-match performance in the third Test at Edgbaston.

He shared in partnerships of 93 in 25 overs with Jonny Bairstow (55) and 79 in 14 overs with Chris Woakes (45) to take England past the 300 mark.

Mooen was struck on the helmet by the first delivery he faced, a bouncer from Wahab Riaz.

But he was soon into his stride with a boundary later in the same over although was dropped on nine at third slip by Azhar Ali off Mohammad Amir.

Moeen lofted Iftikhar Ahmed over mid-wicket for his first six and went to his half-century off 77 balls.

He was finally dismissed for 108 from 152 deliveries, caught at deep mid-wicket by Shah off Sohail Khan, as England were bowled out for 328.

Sohail finished with 5-68.
