WORCESTERSHIRE can look forward to more international cricket being staged at New Road next summer with England Lions taking on the full South African side in a three-day fixture.

The match will take place at the County's headquarters from Thursday, June 29 to Saturday, July 1.

It could offer supporters the opportunity to see Worcestershire batsman Joe Clarke in action against the tourists.

He has again been called into the Lions squad for their programme this winter after appearing last winter against Pakistan 'A' in the UAE and this summer versus the same opponents and Sri Lanka 'A'.

The game is also South Africa's final fixture ahead of the Investec Test Series against England and the battle will be on for places in the side for the first Test at Lord's the following week.

Worcestershire chief executive officer Tom Scott said: "It is always a feather in the cap of the county when we stage international cricket and it is a much welcome addition for supporters and members to go alongside the regular county fixtures.

"We have held a number of international games involving either ourselves, the tourists, England Women, England Lions and England Under-19s in recent seasons and this will be another eagerly awaited fixture.

"The Lions have played an exciting brand of cricket and it will be an added bonus to our supporters if Joe Clarke is part of the set-up."
