WORCESTER Wolves are looking to record their third victory of the season over defending British Basketball League champions Leicester Riders when the sides clash tonight (7.30pm).

Six months ago, Wolves launched a new era at the University by beating the Riders 73-61 in front of packed home crowd.

Tonight, they once again lock horns with the Riders at the Hylton Road venue as the season build towards a climax.

Following that October success, Worcester went on to triumph 69-62 in the east Midlands to secure the crucial head-to-head between the teams.

The only blemish on Wolves' record was a 74-62 BBL Cup defeat sandwiched between the two league wins, also on Leicester's court.

Victory tonight would make it a hat-trick against the Riders in the league as Worcester aim to finish second behind champions-elect Newcastle.

Director of basketball Paul James, whose side visited London Lions last night, said: "We've got the head-to-head on Leicester this year which not many teams have been able to do so I am really pleased about that.

"They're coming to our house, I'm expecting another fantastic crowd and hopefully we can perform well enough to get that win.

"I think it's going to be a party atmosphere. Each game against them has been really exciting."

Leicester are currently fourth in the table, level on 44 points with third-placed Sheffield Sharks.

Tonight will also see Wolves' star point guard Zaire Taylor go up against the club he left last summer to join Worcester.
