WORCESTER Wolves guard Paul Guede has earned his first selection in the British Basketball League team of the week.

The 28-year-old Great Britain star, who joined Wolves last month, scored 16 points in the 78-75 victory over Sheffield Sharks.

He also pulled down nine rebounds, just missing out on a double-double, and demonstrated his defensive capabilities by snapping up three steals, while also providing two as Worcester kept up their title challenge.

Head coach Paul James believes Guede’s impact has been key to Wolves’ recent winning run, which has seen them record seven straight victories in all competitions.

James said: “Paul’s a quality player. He’s had a huge impact. It really takes the pressure of Chavis Holmes and Alex Owumi to have that one other person to score and to generally put the ball in the hole.

“He is a great defensive player as well and is a great acquisition for the team.”

Guede is joined in the elite quintet by Leicester Riders duo Tyler Bernardini and Anthony Rowe, Charles Smith of Newcastle Eagles and London Lions’ Makal Stibbins.

Meanwhile, Wolves are offering half season tickets to cover all home game until the end of the campaign, including the visit of Surrey United on Friday.

Prices are £90 for adults, concessions and under 18s £38, while a family ticket for two adults and two children is £225. A family ticket for one adult and one child is £112.50.

To order, fans need to visit the University Arena box office.
