WORCESTER Wolves announcer David Wooldridge is leaving to take up a similar role with British Basketball League rivals London Lions.

After being with Wolves since they moved to the University of Worcester Arena in 2013, he has decided to end his time with the club.

Wooldridge will continue his national roles with Basketball England, British Wheelchair Basketball and the Women’s British Basketball League.

He will also be taking up a new regular role in 2016 with Lions, linking up with former Wolves favourites Alex Owumi and Jamal and Kai Williams.

“It’s with a heavy heart that I have come to this decision. It certainly wasn’t easy,” said Wooldridge.

“I owe so much to Worcester Wolves, the playing staff, coaches, directors and most importantly the volunteers behind the scenes.

“I’m intrigued by the prospect of London Lions and the Copper Box as a venue, as well as the new challenges it’ll bring me as a presenter, entertainer and, most importantly, as an announcer.

“Worcester is my home town, where my crazy basketball career began, and my heart will always be with the Wolfpack.”

Wooldridge will announce at Birmingham’s Barclaycard Arena on January 17 at the Women’s British Basketball League Trophy final.
