IT may have taken more than two months but Josh Cameron believes he has finally “completely adjusted” to life in British Basketball League.

And Cameron insists he is ready to play a key part in Worcester Wolves’ bid to challenge for trophies during the remainder of the season.

Plenty was expected of the NBA trialist when he made the switch from the USA, where he had gained a reputation as a potent three-point scorer.

However, Cameron struggled to hit the ground running, leading to some strong words from head coach Paul James, who believed the 24-year-old was well behind where he needed to be.

Cameron admitted arriving in October did not help his cause as he felt he was “thrown into games” without getting to know the Worcester players.

But, after impressing in Wolves’ last three games, he said he had finally found his feet in Worcester.

“It was somewhat frustrating at first but that’s basketball,” Cameron said.

“You have got to have a short memory and I knew in the back of my mind it was only going to be a matter of time before I finally figured everything out. I feel like I am at that point right now.

“It took a few games to adjust because I did not have any pre-season. As soon as I got here, I was thrown right into games when I didn’t know the plays and our players as much.

“But now I think I know the personnel, how everybody plays and how the coach wants to run offensive and defensive, so I should be fine for the remainder of the season as I feel I have completely adjusted to how to play in the BBL.”

Cameron says James’ vision was one of the main reasons why he joined the University of Worcester Arena club and he believes Wolves have got a side capable of matching the head coach’s ambition to pick up two trophies this season.

“In October, I was at home contemplating making other decisions but, after speaking to Paul, I decided to come to Wolves as I liked what he talked about,” said Cameron.

He tallied 15 points in Wolves’ victory over Bristol Flyers in the BBL Trophy on Saturday, before getting into double figures again during the side’s defeat to Cheshire Phoenix on Sunday.

Cameron added: “I definitely feel confident here because, once we get a couple of our guys back, we have got the best team in the league.

“There is always room for improvement. It is still the middle of the season, so we just need to string some wins together and get this show on the road.

“As far as trophies, I just want to win at least two this year as I want to see more banners hanging up in the stands.”
