HEAD coach Paul James believes there is a “resilience” and “toughness” about Worcester Wolves which has been key to overcoming “sticky situations”.

Worcester have won 10 of their last 12 games but James insists the victories have not come without challenges.

However, he feels his side have the maturity now to deal with obstacles and not contrive to lose winning positions.

“We have periods in games where we lose focus and allow teams back,” James said.

“But having said that we are doing that less and less whereas before we would have a lead, let teams back in and lose that game.

“Now we are maybe letting them back in slightly and then we are refocusing quickly, pulling away and winning those games. We are a more mature team now.

“We have got more resilience and toughness about us so when we do get ourselves in sticky situations we are able to overcome those and dig ourselves out of holes.”

After a difficult start to the season James said his players had “finally started to click” and “fit together” as they continue their impressive run.

Sixth-placed Wolves look to extend their winning streak in the British Basketball League to six matches when they host leaders Leicester Riders tomorrow (7.30pm).

“We have been playing some really good basketball at both ends of the floor and are continuing to get better week in week out,” James said.

“The guys have really bought into the system and to each other. They are sharing the ball a lot better now, defensively we have got each other’s back and making those multiple efforts we need to defensively.

“When we were struggling to win games I said we would not see the best of this team until February and I think that’s been true.

“Things have finally started to click and fit together as we have played some tremendous games of basketball during this period.

“Everything is really good right now. The confidence is really high and we are looking forward to the next game.”
