THE future looks uncertain for Worcester Warriors’ injured back-rower Andries Pretorius.

The former Wales international is yet to make a competitive appearance for Warriors after suffering a calf injury in pre-season.

Worcester director of rugby Dean Ryan yesterday revealed Warriors would be making an official statement on Pretorius, who joined in the summer from Cardiff Blues.

Ryan said: “There will be an update in the next few weeks when we will give a statement.

We will be updating everybody with a statement as soon as we can.”

Back in November, Ryan said Pretorius had suffered a setback in his recovery from the injury and there were some elements of the player’s recovery which they did not understand.

Meanwhile, Warriors are set to make ‘three or four changes’ to their line-up for Saturday’s clash against Cornish Pirates at Sixways in the Greene King IPA Championship (3pm).

Warriors recorded a 36-17 victory against Yorkshire Carnegie in their last outing after trailing 14-0.

“Cornish Pirates have a big set of forwards and have traditionally played some pretty innovative rugby over the years and been major contenders in the Championship without taking the final step,” said Ryan.

“There will be a few changes to our side — some based around selection and some down to moving people into different places.

“There will probably be three or four changes to the side which played against Yorkshire.”
