COACH Sam Vesty is urging Worcester Warriors supporters to turn out in force on Monday night to cheer on the second string in the Aviva A-League final against Saracens Storm at Sixways (7.30pm).

Vesty is enjoying playing his part in the return of the feel-good factor at Warriors and hopes Cavaliers can topple the London outfit to bag early silverware this season.

“It is brilliant to be at home for the A-League final,” said Vesty.

“The crowd for the semi-final was fantastic and, hopefully, we can have more of the same on Monday.

“We were in some really tight spots in the semi-final against Bath but the crowd really lifted the boys, they were really loud and vocal and helped us to get out of those tight spots.

“The players all mentioned how great the supporters were to a man after the game and how well they got behind the team.

“I want to thank all the fans for their support and I am sure we will get more of the same for the final which will be a huge boost.”

Cavaliers booked their place in the final after a hard-fought 37-26 victory over Bath United at Sixways.

Vesty said: “Winning games is massively uplifting no matter what competition you play in and we are obviously happy to have mirrored the first team in that respect this season.

“It has added to the positive environment that we have around the place and hopefully we can give everyone something to really celebrate come Monday night.”

Despite having home advantage for Monday’s final, Vesty is not about to get ahead of himself with Saracens Storm also unbeaten in this season’s competition.

However, the 33-year-old insists he knows what to expect and will ensure his troops are ready for the challenge.

“Saracens are a very good side and no matter what team they put out you know it is going to be strong,” said Vesty.

“Perhaps people say they have a simple game-plan but it is one they are very good at and utilise so well.”
