WORCESTER Warriors’ AASE side Worcester Sixth Form College have gone one step closer to the AASE Finals Day at Allianz Park in December after fighting back to record a 30-27 win against Northampton Saints' Moulton College.

Worcester Sixth Form College will now take on Gosforth Academy (Newcastle) at Nunnery Wood Sports Complex tomorrow (Wednesday).

A win would book them a place at Finals Day on December 2 – where they would face Henley College (Wasps) or Ivybridge (Exeter).

Moulton got off to a flier in last week’s match, scoring under the posts after just 15 minutes.

But Worcester bounced back with two Sam Hollingsworth penalties to make it 7-6 at the break.

The second half started in the same fashion as the first, with Moulton scoring a try through the middle and converting to make the score 14-6.

But Worcester responded with a well-worked team try which saw Barron Abrahams break down the right wing before offloading to Max Craven who scored in the corner.

Moulton extended their lead immediately afterwards by hitting two long-range penalties to make it 20-11 and looked set for the win, but the young Warriors AASE side had different ideas.

They ran-in three quick-fire tries with the first coming after sustained pressure on the Moulton tryline.

Abrahams was on hand to grab the ball after it spilled out of the ruck allowing him to run under the posts and Hollingsworth converted.

The next try came from Hollingsworth, who powered his way over the line to score out wide before Worcester's fourth and final try came from Abrahams who got on the end of a clever kick from Craven, and fly-half Hollingsworth again converted to make it 30-20.

The last play of the game saw Moulton score a converted try but it was a consolation as Worcester grabbed the win.

AASE Manager Ryan Watkins said: "We showed real grit and character to come back and win after being behind for most of the game. It's in our hands now to make the Finals Day which is exactly where we want to be."
