FIT-AGAIN Worcester Warriors centre Andy Symons is being linked with a summer switch to Aviva Premiership rivals London Irish.

The versatile Harlow-born back is believed to be out of contract at the end of the season and in talks with Irish, where his brother Matt Symons plays at lock.

Symons, 24, can play at centre or fly-half and has grown into an influential player at Sixways where he’s now a reliable goal-kicker.

Symons was on the sidelines for eight months after damaging his knee ligaments but returned to action in December and has already featured seven times this term.

Warriors have boosted their midfield options for next season with Leinster’s Ben Te'o and Grenoble’s Jackson Willison both arriving in the summer.

Warriors would not comment on speculation about Symons’ future.

The back has played played 39 times for Warriors, since arriving at Sixways from Tasman Makos in November 2013, scoring 163 points.

And earlier this season, Symons said it was great to have his brother Matt back in the country after he joined Irish from New Zealand's Waikato-based Chiefs.

“As a family we are back together again,” said Symons.

“I know my mum is delighted about it and it’s great to have him down the road.

“I know he’s been pretty frustrated with the results down at Irish. I have been in a similar situation to him so I just try to help him out.”

Symons hit top form last term and, after taking up the kicking responsibilities during the second half of the campaign, produced some fine displays with the boot.

He slotted seven out of seven against Rotherham Titans and eight from eight against London Scottish before suffering a serious knee injury in training.

Symons has hit the ground running since returning to action last month and head coach Carl Hogg is a big fan of Symons’ ability.

“Andy brings a point of difference,” said Hogg.

“He’s a big, physical player. He’s performed really well and gives us a point of difference in the midfield. You can play with him or through him."
