WORCESTER Warriors have extended the contract of wing Dean Hammond.

The 23-year-old has featured six times this season in Warriors’ European Challenge Cup, crossing the whitewash on three occasions, while also spending time on loan at Nottingham.

Director of rugby Dean Ryan said: “Dean is a young player who has developed immensely during his three seasons at the club.

“He has not been fazed by the amount of competition for places and has continued to help drive standards across the squad.

“We’re delighted he has decided to stay with us and we hope we can help him realise his potential.”

South African-born Hammond arrived at Sixways in 2013, making 15 appearances in his debut campaign where he featured across the Aviva Premiership, European Challenge Cup and LV= Cup competitions.

Despite an injury-hit 2014/15 season, Hammond scored seven tries in 11 appearances, helping Warriors pick up the British and Irish Cup and playing an integral role in their promotion to the Aviva Premiership.

Hammond said: “I’ve made some great friends since moving to the Club and have grown very fond of Worcester.

“I’m looking forward to the future at Sixways and hope I can help us build something really special.”
