WORCESTER Warriors prop James Johnston has been named in Samoa’s squad for three Test matches next month.

The giant tighthead has been picked by head coach Namulauulu Alama Ieremia for games against Georgia, Fiji and Tonga.

Johnston is likely to come up against Warriors team-mate Jaba Bregvadze, an established hooker with Six Nations B Grand Slam champions Georgia.

Johnston arrived at Sixways in January after an injury-hit spell with Wasps and made one Premiership start and 12 appearances from the bench.

Johnston, 30, has 14 international caps for Samoa, bagging a try against Japan on his debut in 2008.

Coach Ieremia had travelled to Europe to talk to all of the eligible players and is looking forward to the challenges.

Samoa are going through a re-building phase and their immediate focus is to secure qualification for 2019 World Cup.

Ieremia said: “I’m heartened by the fact that our experienced players are passionate and have come back to represent the Blue Jersey.”
