PERRY Humphreys has been voted Worcester Warriors’ player of the month for September after a whirlwind start to his Aviva Premiership career.

The explosive winger picked up 43 per cent of the votes to beat fellow youngster Jamie Shillcock to the club's first big award of the season.

The 21-year-old made his debut from the bench against Saracens on the opening day of the campaign before coming on to score a scintillating solo try against Gloucester at Sixways a week later.

Humphreys then produced another moment of magic as he squeezed past England's Anthony Watson at Bath and he touched down to make it three tries in three consecutive appearances as he scored against Sale Sharks at the end of September.

Humphreys said: "I'm really grateful to the coaches for giving me an opportunity and showing faith in me and also to the senior players who have given me the confidence to go and express myself on the field.

"It's been a great learning curve and I'm really enjoying my rugby, testing myself against some of the best in the game.

"Every week is a new challenge and hopefully I can continue to improve across the season."

Shillcock was second with picked up 29 per cent of the votes while loosehead prop Val Rapava Ruskin was in third place with 19 per cent.
