WARRIORS' AASE side Worcester Sixth Form College narrowly lost 29-24 to Newcastle Falcons’ Gosforth Academy in an entertaining encounter at Sixways

Joe Weaver, Charlie Gamble, George Radburn and Rob Lester all crossed the whitewash along with two conversions from Jake Leonard.

But it was not enough to take the points against a strong Newcastle side.

Despite Worcester taking a 10-0 lead within the first 10 minutes, Gosforth did not let them run away with the contest.

The visitors’ relentless attacking style eventually paid off as they fought back to get the win.

The result meant Worcester finished third in the AASE League North Division and qualified for the play-offs.

Worcester, Gosforth and Oaklands College (Saracens AASE) now all have to play each other with the overall winner going through to the main final.

Worcester's next clash is at Oaklands College on Wednesday, November 9 (2pm).

Despite the tough task that awaits his side, AASE manager Ryan Watkins remains optimistic of reaching their target.

He said: “Despite the loss there are things we can fix within training that will give us a good chance of getting the two results we need.

“We made a lot of unforced handling errors and, in wet conditions, probably should have played a more territorial game.”
