ENGLAND centre Ben Te’o has been ruled out of Worcester Warriors’ Aviva Premiership clash at Gloucester tomorrow (3pm) with an ankle injury.

Te’o appeared to be gearing up for the M5 derby at Kingsholm after training with the England squad in Brighton on Monday and Tuesday.

But Warriors have confirmed the 29-year-old had failed a late fitness test following a knock he sustained in Worcester’s 27-14 victory over Harlequins last weekend.

Wynand Olivier replaces Te’o at outside centre and is one of three changes to the team that triumphed at Sixways.

Dewald Potgieter led the side to only their second league victory of the season but picked up an injury in the process, meaning Phil Dowson is restored at number eight and will captain Warriors.

Worcester have also been boosted by the return of Jamie Shillcock who has overcome concussion.

The 19-year-old comes in for Josh Adams, who took a blow to the face against Quins, at full-back as Ryan Mills retains the number 10 jersey after his man-of-the-match display.

Head coach Carl Hogg has opted for six forward replacements with two locks in Tevita Cavubati and Will Spencer, while back row Marco Mama could make his first Premiership appearance since September.

There is a welcome return for scrum-half Luke Baldwin, who has not played since October, and Ben Howard, who could be in line for his first Premiership showing of the season.

Meanwhile, Gloucester have made five changes to the team that lost 13-12 to Northampton Saints last weekend.

Captain Greig Laidlaw and wing Charlie Sharples return, while Matt Scott is back alongside Billy Twelvetrees in the midfield.

Gloucester retain the same front five that started against Saints but bring back Ross Moriarty and Jacob Rowan in the back row for Lewis Ludlow and Matt Kvesic respectively.

Among the replacements, Mariano Galarza is denied an opportunity to face his former club as he is ruled out with flu but ex-Warriors centre Andy Symons has been named on the bench.
