CENTRE Jackson Willison has described Worcester Warriors’ clash in Brive “as one of the toughest trips” an English club can face in Europe.

Willison has not been named in Worcester’s squad to tackle Brive tomorrow (8pm GMT) but played at the Stade Amedee-Domenech when he plied his trade with Grenoble.

Hamilton-born Willison has never registered a win in Brive and passed on his experiences this week to his fellow Warriors during training.

“France is well known to me and I would like to be able to go and help this club get on track,” said Willison, a former Waikato Chiefs player.

“Brive is definitely one of the toughest trips that anyone in England can face.

“Brive can be quite hard to travel to and there is also the hostility of the crowd.

“Brive will have of the biggest packs this club will see.

“They like to keep it nice and tight and it can be pretty boring for a back.

“I have never won there as a player and I am searching for that first win.”

Nicolas Godignon's Brive are eighth in the Top14 and well clear of the threat of relegation with a place in Europe's quarter-finals on the cards.

They lead Pool Three after three wins from four European Challenge Cup matches, including a 25-24 success against Worcester at Sixways in October.

Willison said: “Historically, French teams haven’t gone fully loaded (in Europe) but that’s different to what I’ve seen in the last couple of rounds.

“The Brive crowd can be quite vocal at times but some of our lads don’t understand the French language so I am sure we will be fine.”

Willison added: “It’s a good time to get our game-plan straight with our next Premiership game not until Saracens next month. It’s a good time to get our systems in place, nail it down and test ourselves.”
