HEAD coach Carl Hogg insists the focus is on Worcester Warriors as they look to keep alive their Anglo-Welsh Cup qualification hopes.

Wing Bryce Heem will be making only his fourth appearance of the campaign as Warriors host Aviva Premiership rivals Harlequins on Saturday in their penultimate Pool Two/Three match (3pm).

With the four pools winners progressing to the semi-finals, Warriors are third in Pool Two – just one point adrift of table-topping Ospreys.

Teams in Pool Two each play once against sides in Pool Three which is headed up by Harlequins, who have picked up two victories so far.

Warriors have enjoyed mixed fortunes in the competition, beating rivals Bristol 31-25 at Sixways in their curtain-raising fixture in November.

However, Warriors were battered in their next match, crashing 62-10 against a rampant Wasps at the Ricoh Arena after replacement Dan Robson ripped open their defence.

Quins kicked off their Anglo-Welsh Cup campaign with a 29-15 home win against Exeter Chiefs before sealing a narrow 15-12 success against Pro-12 Ospreys at St Helen’s in Swansea.

Warriors recorded a richly-deserved 24-17 home victory against the Quins earlier this month when the sides met in the Premiership.

Although Hogg is expecting to face a less experienced Quins side, he believes their young guns will have plenty to prove.

“Harlequins have a very strong youth system with a large majority of their squad having come through the academy process,” said Hogg.

“They will use this competition to blood a lot of young fellas.

“But a lot of them have now got a wealth of Premiership experience so no doubt they will be a strong side on Saturday.”

Warriors recorded an emphatic 57-14 European Challenge Cup victory against Russian side Enisei-STM last Saturday and Hogg plans to field some experienced heads in the squad.

However, teenage fly-half Jamie Shillcock (knee) is struggling and Hogg could not confirm whether influential scrum-half Francois Hougaard would make his long-awaited return after injury.

Hogg said: “It’s very much about what we are doing and the confidence and momentum we can build.

“Harlequins are a quality side full of academy products who are keen to expand and inspire but it’s about what we do.”

Warriors will round off their Pool Two/Three campaign at Pro-12 Cardiff Blues, who are bottom of Pool Three after two successive defeats, on February 4 (3pm).
