WASPS boss Dai Young is expecting a “really tough” test against lowly Worcester Warriors in Sunday’s derby at the Ricoh Arena (2.30pm).

The Coventry-based club could be the first team to seal a semi-final play-off place if results go their way in the Aviva Premiership this weekend.

Wasps are five points clear of Exeter Chiefs at the top.

Second-from-bottom Warriors are seven points better off than basement outfit Bristol, who host Gloucester tonight.

Wasps are unbeaten in their last 15 matches at the Ricoh.

“This is a massive game for us, as we know Worcester will be scrapping for their lives,” said Young.

“We’ve got games against both of the bottom two in this last part of the season, which is never a great time to play teams that are fighting relegation.

“While they may look like games we should win, we know they will be really tough.

"I’m sure Worcester and Bristol will both pick up wins before the end of the season, and we’ve got to make sure it isn’t us at the weekend.

“We need to hit the ground running like we did against Bath, which was our best display in the last Premiership block.”

Wasps recorded a 26-12 victory when the clubs met in the Premiership at Sixways in December.

They romped to a 62-10 home victory against Worcester in the Anglo-Welsh Cup in November when Dan Robson tore the visitors to shreds.

Young said: “It’s about accumulating as many points as you can, it doesn’t matter who you’re playing, it’s worth five points.

“At the end of the season, it doesn’t matter who you’ve beaten and who you’ve lost to, it’s how many points you’ve got.

“We think we’re in a good place for the final push, but I’m sure every other team thinks the same.

“There’s still a lot of points to be won and lost; we’ve got to make sure we maintain our performances then hopefully we’ll be there at the end of the day.

“Depending on results this weekend, if we win and one or two things go our way we’re cemented in the top four, although that’s not a foregone conclusion as we have to win one or maybe two games to make sure.

“After that we’re shooting for the top two and a home draw, but first we’ve got to nail down the semi-final spot.”

Wasps will be without rested England trio Elliot Daly, Joe Launchbury and Nathan Hughes.

They will also miss longer-term absentees Kyle Eastmond, Rob Miller and Sam Jones.

Kearnan Myall and Guy Thompson are both fit for selection following chest and hand injuries respectively.
