BACK rower Anthony Durutalo looks poised to make his first outing in front of the Sixways faithful when Worcester Cavaliers host Wasps in the Premiership Rugby A-League tonight (7.30pm).

The USA international joined Warriors last week after agreeing an undisclosed deal to make the move from Championship side Ealing Trailfinders.

Durutalo has not been registered to play in the European Challenge Cup, but will be determined to press his case ahead of Warriors’ Aviva Premiership clash at Harlequins next Saturday (3pm).

Head coach Carl Hogg admitted he was keen to see the 29-year-old in action and felt the Cavaliers fixture could provide the perfect opportunity.

“He looks a really good athlete,” Hogg said.

“He has been plying his trade at Ealing, but has played for the United States.

“We will look to try to integrate him over the next couple of weeks.

“We have got an A-League game against Wasps which is a potential opportunity for Drew and then we can see how he travels off the back of that.”

If Durutalo fails to win a place in the matchday 23 to travel to The Stoop, he is likely to play in Warriors’ Anglo-Welsh Cup clashes against Sale Sharks and Harlequins next month.

“For the European Challenge Cup, we didn’t want to go too far outside the Premiership 23 as it is a competition that we want to progress in,” Hogg added.

“We also wanted to make sure that when we go into the game against Harlequins players are match fit.

“We will probably use the Anglo-Welsh Cup to look at the wider squad and some of our younger players that are kicking their heels and ready to put their hand up.”
