WORCESTER Warriors scrum-half Jonny Arr faces a three-month spell on the sidelines as he battles to overcome concussion.

Fly-half Tom Heathcote is also set for a lengthy period out as he awaits a “specialist review” in four weeks’ time following his latest blow to the head.

Arr was stretchered off in Warriors’ 41-35 defeat to Harlequins two weeks ago after colliding with number eight Mat Luamanu’s knee.

Immediately after the Aviva Premiership clash, head coach Carl Hogg said the 28-year-old was “fine” as he was seen applauding Quins’ players off the pitch.

But having previously suffered a head injury against Exeter Chiefs in early September, Warriors confirmed Arr, who has made 196 appearances for the club, would be out for "12 weeks".

Director of rugby Gary Gold said: "Jonny is a club stalwart and it is never nice to get such a quality player out injured for a long period of time.

"But unfortunately it's been the story of our life this year with Marco Mama, Dewald Potgieter and Carl Kirwan (out injured) and now unfortunately Jonny as well."

"Bigger than the game of rugby is the player's welfare, so it's important that he is looked after and we wish him well."

Heathcote has also been forced to bide his time in his recovery having suffered a series of knocks to his head in the last 12 months.

The 25-year-old, who missed a large chunk of the 2016/17 campaign due to concussion, has recently come back from a head injury which ruled him out for more than a month.

"Tommy has had a tough run of luck," Gold said.

"But it is important now that his welfare is put at the top of the agenda.

"He and Jonny are both seeing specialists at the moment.

"We hope they recover quite quickly, but there are important protocols around head injuries."
