WILL Butler is determined to push England U20s home as they look to pip France to the title on the final day of the 2018 Six Nations.

The 19-year-old centre has been named on the bench for their crunch clash against Ireland at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry tonight (8pm).

England kept their hopes alive of reclaiming the crown with a 22-6 victory over France in Breziers to move level on points with their rivals.

But the defending champions will need to better France’s result against Wales that evening or overturn a points deficit of 66 if they are to win it for the seventh time.

Butler is among three Worcester Warriors players named in the team with James Scott handed a starting spot and Ted Hill selected on the bench.

And Butler is eager to make an impact in England’s pursuit of glory.

“We are only looking at our game,” Butler said.

“Whatever happens in Wales happens so we are going to do our best to get the bonus-point win our end and hope for the best.

“Myself and Ted said we would look to finish the game off and push the boys home.”

England opened the championship with a 27-17 win at Italy. They then defeated Wales 37-12 before going down 24-17 at Scotland.

But Steve Bates’ side bounced back against France and Butler said they were in a “good frame of mind” ahead of their battle with Ireland.

“It is a tight-knit group,” said Butler who made his Aviva Premiership debut in Warriors’ 34-5 loss against Leicester Tigers earlier this month.

“Everyone gets on really well and are working hard for each other, so we are in a good spot at the moment.

“Ireland have shown they are a decent side in the previous games they have played.

“But we are hoping to put a good performance out there.

“I think last week’s match showed that we can play at quite a high standard so we will be looking to back that up. Last week and the start of this week we have really started to click as a team.

“The boys are getting to know each other and we are slowly turning into a team rather than just individuals.

“We want to finish the Six Nations off with a decent showing so we can go into the World Cup this summer with the confidence that we can do well there.”

Butler also had the honour of captaining his country for the first time when they tackled Scotland in Edinburgh.

“The result did not go our way but it was still a great privilege,” he added.

“I enjoyed that whole week.”
