WORCESTER Warriors hooker Joe Taufete’e scored two tries in USA Eagles’ 62-13 victory over Russia at the Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Denvor.

After Russia opened the scoring with a try, Eagles managed to win the ball metres from the line before Taufete’e touched down.

Russia grabbed two penalties, but the hosts established a 34-13 lead at half-time thanks to further tries from John Quill, Paul Lasike, Taufete’e and Marcel Brache.

After the break, Brache dotted down again before Nate Augspurger, Cam Dolan and captain Blaine Scully crossed the whitewash as USA kicked off the Summer Series in style.

Ex-Warriors boss Gary Gold, who took over as USA head coach earlier this year, said: “The boys made some really good decisions and followed up with some really good execution, going in at halftime with five tries under the belt.”

Meanwhile, Warriors wing Josh Adams played the full 80 minutes as Wales impressed in a 23-10 victory over Argentina in San Juan.

Former Worcester back rower David Denton produced a man of the match showing in Scotland’s 48-10 win against Canada.
