IN his final game on home soil, Miles Benjamin racked up his 300th point for Worcester Warriors by crossing for his 60th try for the club.
That amazing return has come in just 123 appearances for the Sixways side since bursting into the first team from the academy with a glittering debut season in 2007/08.
After five try-laden campaigns in a Gold and Blue shirt, England Saxons speedster Benjamin is now poised to begin a new chapter in his career with a summer switch to English rugby powerhouse Leicester Tigers.
However, the affable Solihull-born winger insists Sixways will always hold happy memories for him and that he will also continue to watch the club closely after he has gone.
“Sixways has always been a place I have enjoyed playing at,” said Benjamin. “It’s been a long time now and I will be sad to go, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it and I am leaving behind some good mates and memories.
“I still remember my first season and running out the tunnel and that noise. It gets you pretty excited because suddenly you are playing in front of far more people.”
Benjamin will recall his Warriors career with pride and remain close to the club after having forged strong bonds with a host of current first-team stars who he graduated through the club’s successful academy with.
The 23-year-old added: “I look back with pride at what I have achieved. A lot of us worked extremely hard, the likes of Alex Grove, Chris Pennell and I came through the Warriors system together.
“I will keep in touch with people and I still talk to others who have left the club before me and gone through similar experiences. We are tight and will remain friends always.”
