NHS ‘wasting £150k on utilities’
Perhaps the Taxpayer's Alliance could find out how much money is wasted at County Hall. For example, how much did cost to maintain and keep repairing the previous and necessary barriers which then ended up being replaced by new ones? Or fencing that was installed last month along the main drive which serves no purpose? Or the amount of money they're currently spending on the boiler room? Or the lake in front of the building which surely should be hived off to a wildlife charity to maintain? And as I visit County Hall for meetings, how much are we losing in lost working time as I often see staff just wandering around or spending time in their swanky cafeteria or visiting the shop?

County council chief executive Trish Haines to retire

Sorry but fair play to her she got off her butt and did something. Her salary is equitable with a private sector person in the same role.
Ironic that most of those complaining are those people who find that kind of salary offensive are those who receive a much smaller amount often for free through benefits from people like her through tax...

Residents voice 'disgust' over Ketch roundabout plan
JMEH12, your comments about the highways department do not surprise but this is sadly typical of their attitude, while they don't listen to and disregard the views of the public, even if we know what we are talking about. The way they have treated the residents of St. Peter's is disgusting.
But don't let let the matter rest and let them walk all over you. If need be, turn up to County Hall and demand so see the senior staff in the highways department, like Mr Fraser, Mr Blake, Mr Fullee or Mr Comerford and don't let them fudge you with excuses that that they're unavailable.
I've looked at that council website which Lizzie R mentioned and funnily enough, there are no plans for the southern link or are they deliberately not publishing it?! And Lizzie R, your comments are utter nonsense and unsympathetic, it's as if you either work in highways or knows someone that does.

I would like to see / hear the positive thinking behind the new traffic ligth pedestrian crossings on Rainbow Hill Lowesmoor, City walls Road, in fact anywhere where the lights have been replaced and when you press the crossing button as before and wait for the lights to change in your favour to cross there dose not appear to be any audible warning beeps now, so how do the poor sighted know when to cross???
