I OPENED my quilting and patchwork shop because quilting is my main passion, explains Charlie Gannon, who owns Quilters Corner at 72 Port Street, Evesham.

I have enjoyed more than 16 years of quilt making, and before opening the shop I attended large craft fairs in Cardiff where I sold my quilts along with other fabric-based gifts.

I hope to be able to share my knowledge of the materials and skills needed to create beautiful quilts.

The shop stocks a large range of 100 per cent cotton fabrics in a variety of designs and styles to appeal to all tastes and pockets as well as threads, notions and other tools quilters’ will find indispensable.

I also have a selection of quilts and other fabric-based items on display for extra inspiration.

In addition to the quilting essentials I also run regular sewing groups and classes that are open to all crafters, not just quilters.

The groups are a chance for people to get together in a welcoming friendly environment and show others what they are currently working on, share any tips they have picked up and find solutions to issues they may be having with their crafts.

I am on hand to help as are a number of other experienced crafters. If you have never sewn a stitch this is a good way to start.

The groups currently run on Tuesday mornings between 10am and 12.30pm and Friday afternoon between 1.30pm and 4pm. More will be opening as demand grows.

The lessons are for smaller groups and look to explore and share techniques and introduce new ideas.

The lessons will range from the very basics to the making of a beautiful quilt.
