OWNER Kirsty Speight is celebrating the first anniversary of her Evesham hair salon, The Courtyard.

Opening for business in a town with a lot of competition – and facing the challenge of the Abbey Bridge closure – has not been easy.

But a year on the salon is going from strength to strength and Kirsty is really pleased to have taken the plunge.

She said: "We've slowly been revamping and decorating the salon.

"We have had fantastic support from friends, family and clients.

"We have taken on new staff and retained existing local staff too.

"And we have kept our loyal customers and had plenty of new ones come on board."

The salon is open six days a week, including Mondays (unlike many others).

The interior has been freshly re-vamped; it has a friendly atmosphere and staff are training on new techniques.

It is now a stockist of competitively priced Cloud Nine straighteners, which have a temperature gauge that protects your hair from heat damage.

Kirsty says: "We believe in doing lots of training to keep up with the latest fashions and styles and to keep us enthusiastic about our styling.

"We had a charity event with different things such as a bake sale and sweepstake to raise money for breast cancer research.

"Toni is our extensions specialist, so if you want to add length or thickness to your hair, she is the expert.

"We also now use Matrix colours in the salon, because they are brilliant products and the reds really hold their vibrancy, and we've done lots of in-house training on different colouring techniques."

Don't miss the Tuesday discounts either!

The salon is organising a raffle for its anniversary with prizes of a hairdryer, Moroccan oil gift set, and a cut-and-finish voucher. The money raised will go to Bethan Edwards charity.

Tickets are available now from the salon.
