ONE in five people in the county have still not been vaccinated against coronavirus, the latest figures show.

A total of 451,756 people in Worcestershire have so far been vaccinated against Covid-19 having received both jabs – just over 80 per cent of the county’s population aged 16 and above – meaning one in five people have still not been fully vaccinated.

Based on NHS figures and population estimates for the county from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), that means around 112,000 people have either not yet received a second jab or have not had the vaccine at all.

Around 86 per cent of Worcestershire’s eligible population has received at least one Covid jab so far with the county’s 12-to-15-year-olds set to be offered a first Pfizer jab as soon as possible, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has announced.

The latest figures, which run to September 12, show that 97.5 per cent of residents aged between 80 and 84 and 85 and 89 are vaccinated having received both Covid jabs – the biggest uptake among an age group in the county at the moment.

The lowest uptake among the county’s adults aged 18 and above is the 25-to-29-year-olds where just under 71 per cent of those eligible have so far received both jabs.

Just over 61 per cent of 16-and-17-year-olds in Worcestershire have received both jabs so far according to the figures.

Uptake is at its highest among the county residents aged 50 and above with 91 and 92 per cent of 50-to-54 and 55-to-59-year-olds now vaccinated, 94 and 95 per cent of 60-to-64 and 65-to-69-year-olds having received both jabs.

The same goes for the 70-to-74 and 75-to-79-year-olds where over 96 and 97 per cent of the eligible age group have been vaccinated having received both jabs.

Just over 83 and 88 per cent of 40-to-44 and 45-to-49-year-olds have now been vaccinated in Worcestershire and 73 per cent and just under 78 per cent of 30-to-34 and 35-to-39-year-olds have now had both Covid jabs.

A total of just over 74 per cent of the county’s 18-to-24-year-olds and just under 96 per cent of those aged 90 and above have so far been vaccinated.
