Description of Location

Located in Capel Isaac a lovely rural Community dotted with sizable farms and a cluster of homes in one of the most sought after regions in Carmarthenshire, is handily located for its access to the M4 (25 mins), the county town of Carmarthen 16 miles distant, and about 50mins by car from Port Talbot, which with Swansea and Cardiff are on the main London rail line. The area is a well known tourist destination with popular attractions of Dinefwr Castle, Carreg Cennen Castle, Dryslwyn Castle, Aberglasney Gardens and The National Botanic Gardens of Wales all within a short drive away.

The History

Bryn y Cadno has a long and interesting history dating back to the 16th century (1594) with buildings and associated structures forming a group of very distinctive character. The cow house (located over the stone bridge) is old but is on older foundations which is mooted to have being the original house and barn before the existing farmhouse.... the Lounge/Family Room and the entrance hall and small part of sitting room would have been a 2 room dwelling before the Sitting Room came into existence for a worker and then the upper floor added. Material in the National Library references the history of Bryn-y-Cadno back over 400 years and gives good reason to suppose that Bryn y Cadno is medieval in origin. Other features include the stone built spring found within the grounds and the charming hump backed stone bridge which crosses the Nant Cwm-Cyfyng.
