THE Scottish folk supergroup Fara have a gig lined up at the Fleece Inn at Bretforton, near Evesham.

Fara were nominated for 2017’s BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards’ Horizon Award.

They will play the Fleece Inn, Evesham on Thursday October 25, from 8.30pm.

A spokesman said: “Bringing together four leading musicians at the forefront of today’s Scottish folk scene, Fara’s line-up includes Jennifer Austin, Kristan Harvey, Jeana Leslie and Catriona Price.

“With three fiddles and a piano this fearsome quartet produce a fiery sound rooted strongly in their upbringing among the music of Orkney.”

The spokesman added: “With vibrant arrangements full of rich harmonies, energetic fiddle playing and driving piano, Fara’s music is an exciting and unforgettable live experience.”

Fara will be showcasing music from their latest album, Times from Times Fall.

The spokesman said: “The group have a host of new material they can’t wait to share with fans up and down the country. With a mixture of self-penned and traditional Orkney tunes as well as stunning vocals, the young women’s combined musicality and friendship produce an exhilarating and individual sound.”

Catriona Price, one of the fiddle players in the band, said: “We were asked to form in 2014 for the Orkney Folk Festival and we have never looked back! That gave us such a great excuse to get the band going, which was something we’d been chatting about for a while. We’d all known each other since we were children but coming back together as adults having gone away and each done different things musically has given the band a unique sound – everybody started out in the same way, but now all bring different musical aspects to the table.”

She added: “We’re brilliant friends and we absolutely love touring – we’re especially looking forward to this tour, showcasing material from the new album which we hope the Evesham crowds will enjoy!”
