AN ACCLAIMED production of classic Shakespeare will be beamed into audiences at Pershore’s Number 8.
Nicholas Hytner’s take on the Bard’s tragedy Hamlet will be shown as live at the High Street venue on Tuesday having been recorded from tonight’s performance at the National Theatre in London.
The play continues the second season of National Theatre Live broadcasts to cinemas and performing arts venues around the world.
Emma Bangham, programme manager at Number 8, said: “We are very excited to be taking part in the National Theatre Live season, bringing the very best of contemporary theatre to Pershore.
“The digital broadcasts retain the atmosphere of live theatre but also give the audience close-ups of the action on stage and the actors.
“This production of Hamlet has received widespread critical acclaim and features a magnificent cast.”
Rory Kinnear stars in the title role, following his celebrated performances at the National in Burnt by the Sun, The Revenger’s Tragedy, Philistines and The Man of Mode.
He will be joined on stage by fellow cast members Clare Higgins (Gertrude), Patrick Malahide (Claudius), David Calder (Polonius), James Laurenson (Ghost/ Player King) and Ruth Negga (Ophelia).
