A PHOTOGRAPHIC exhibition inspired by the birthplace of a filmmaker’s father has arrived in Evesham.

Sheba Saeed, opened her exhibition, Beggars of Lahore, on Monday, March 5, at Evesham Library alongside the town’s deputy Mayor Robert Raphael and town councillor Diana Raphael.

The exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the streets of Lahore in Pakistan.

She said: “I was inspired by a trip to my father's birthplace, Lahore, to get to the root of the very taboo subject of begging and produced and directed my debut documentary Beggars of Lahore.

“The film was shot over approximately three months. I decided to exhibit in Evesham because I have family here and find it a very pleasant town.

“On one of my visits to Evesham library I noticed they had a lovely space for displays and liaised with the library team leader who was very encouraging and helpful.

“The opening went really well and deputy mayor Robert Raphael officially opened the event.”

The exhibition is running until March 31. For more information visit beggarsoflahore.com/home or contact the library on 01905 822722.
