Myleene Klass has joked how her latest TV role is dangerous for her waistline.
The former Hear’Say singer hosts BBQ Champ, ITV’s cooking competition to find Britain’s best amateur barbecue chef, judged by Man vs Food star Adam Richman and restaurateur Mark Blatchford.
“It is a dream job, amazing for my soul but terrible for my waistline!” she said.
“As soon as they have finished cooking, I dive into the food stations and I mine sweep. It’s a big old eat feast.”
Over the course of five episodes, eight of the UK’s best amateur BBQers will face a series of fiery BBQ challenges.
The contestants are gradually eliminated, leaving just one to win the title BBQ Champ 2015 and a cash prize of £25,000.
Myleene admitted her own culinary skills could do with some polishing up.
She said: “When I first went for a meeting about this show and they told me they would like me to host it, I told them I couldn’t cook.
“Like everyone, I can throw the sausages and chicken on a BBQ but I am very, very good at appreciation,” she continued, adding: “I now know how to marinade a chicken, I even know about smoking strawberries, it’s all been incredible.”
She’s also picked up some tips from the judges: “They don’t stop talking about food and they have already taught me so much about bark, coals, cooking on a spit and how there are different types of wood.”
BBQ Champ begins on ITV on Friday, July 31.
