The Divine Comedy will be proclaimed homegrown legends when they receive a special tribute this autumn.
The chamber pop band, fronted by Neil Hannon, will be given the Oh Yeah Legend Award during a special performance at the Mandela Hall in Belfast on November 14.
Divine Comedy achieved a Top 10 UK hit in 1998 with National Express.
Neil said: “I am amazed and humbled to be receiving this honour. There is nothing more gratifying than recognition from your homeland, and I’m very much looking forward to playing some songs and seeing some familiar faces.”
Previous recipients of the award, which recognises artists from Northern Ireland, include Therapy?; Stiff Little Fingers and The Undertones.
Stuart Bailie, chief executive of the Oh Yeah Music Centre, said: “The Divine Comedy have delivered so many stunning songs and Neil writes with wit, emotion and intelligence.
“He continues to bring distinction to Northern Ireland and we’re so pleased that he has agreed to accept his Legend Award and to perform at the occasion.”
