CHILDREN at a Vale school lit a candle to celebrate Christingle at an annual church service.

The youngsters at Fladbury CE First School created Christingle decorations with symbolic items such as cocktail sticks for the four seasons and the candle meaning the light of the world.

Julie Wilson, headteacher at Fladbury school, said: “We celebrated the Christingle at a church service on Friday.

“The children made the decorations alongside the PTA. There is a meaning to each part of the decoration.

“The children also raised money for the Children’s Society charity. They were each given a cardboard envelope to fill with pennies and return, which they have, but we are yet to have the final count.”
