A WORCESTERSHIRE company is marking its 50th anniversary by setting itself the challenge of raising £50,000 in aid of a charity granting sick children's wishes.
Medical equipment manufacturer Kimal Plc, which is based in Droitwich, Bromsgrove and elsewhere, is hoping to raise the sum for the Make a Wish Foundation by the end of November.
The international charity grants wishes to children and young people aged between three and 17 who are fighting life-threatening illnesses.
Managing director Mark Pettitt is playing his part by cycling 100 miles in a day in June.
"I am both excited and apprehensive of the challenge that lies ahead," he said.
"Every Sunday I am in training with average speeds of 10mph and for those of you who are mathematicians I expect to complete the challenge between 12 to 13 hours including several planned breaks."
He said he hoped his effort would raise £1,000 towards the bid.
Generous customers, suppliers and other well-wishers have so far donated £8,000 towards the bid
and this year the company is planning a range of events including skydives, a five-a-side football tournament and three peaks challenges.
