HUMAN remains have been discovered during a £1 million revamp of a village school.
The remains were discovered yesterday as building works took place at Overbury CofE First School near Tewkesbury.
West Mercia Police confirmed the find today. A spokesperson said: "Human remains were uncovered yesterday during building works at Overbury primary School in Overbury.
"Police detectives, forensic scientists and archaeological experts are at the school today to determine the nature of the find."
Overbury CofE First School did not make an official comment on the find but confirmed the school was still open and works would remain on the revamp when possible.
As part of the development the school will get a new space allowing for indoor PE lessons, daily hot lunches, cookery lessons and room for whole school assemblies.
Construction started immediately after the summer term ended last year and was due for completion by the end of the Easter holidays.
