PERSHORE'S first foodbank opened on Friday and served seven people in need on the first day.
It's the first foodbank in the town and users must be referred to the service.
Reverend Mark Jennings is one of the people behind the scheme, which is being run by Churches Together in Pershore in connection with the national Trussell Trust organisation.
He said: "Friday was the pilot day and we served seven clients. Today (Tuesday) we saw three clients.
"So far people have been saying how much they appreciated the welcome they received.
"We are sorry there's a need for this but we are here serving people in crisis."
The foodbank is located at the former Ogle's Pharmacy in Church Street and Revd Jennings added how grateful they were to the Ogle family for offering the building.
"We have also had donations from Asda of food and carrier bags and Sweet Traditions in town donated Jelly Babies and chocolate and this make a huge difference to people with families."
Anybody who would like to donate food to the new foodbank can visit the former Ogles Pharmacy in Church Street in Pershore.
