A PERSHORE business which helped to restore the Regal cinema back to glory has been celebrating after winning the heritage category at this year's Wychavon Design Awards.
Poole Phillips Associates, based in Pershore High Street, were delighted to have been presented with the main award in the heritage category.
Their work on the Regal Cinema,in Port Street, Evesham, was recognised for “the overall high quality of the restoration of the building that has returned it to a use highly valued by the community”.
The Architects were given the brief to enhance and sympathetically restore the art deco cinema
to its former glory, whilst keeping a sense of community at the heart of their focus.
The award was received by Victoria Poole, senior partner, who said: "It is such an honour to be
given this and to know that the people of Evesham are enjoying the pleasure of this classic
cinema in a new and exciting way.
"This recognition continues the Practices’ local success having been previously awarded the 2009 Wychavon Building of Distinction Award."
This is an exciting time for the architects, which is celebrating its 21st anniversary in Pershore, with a
major expansion in staff and projects, supported by the Growing in Wychavon initiative.
